Sabert's Nuvida Plastics Recycling Facility Named a Finalist for the Sustainable Packaging Coalition Innovator Awards
Recognition of Innovation in a Recovery Technology Demonstrates Company’s Commitment to Sustainable Solutions
SAYREVILLE, NJ., March 1, 2024 - With a steadfast dedication to promoting sustainable practices, Sabert Corporation's Nuvida full-service plastics recycling facility has been announced as a finalist for the SPC Innovator Awards. The highly regarded recognition spotlights Nuvida's significant strides in the Innovation in a Recovery Technology or Practice category.
Established by Sabert in 2012, Nuvida provides high quality recycled resin for both food-contact and non-food contact applications, serving a range of industries from healthcare to automotive. Nuvida’s advanced processing technologies resulted in a letter of no objection from the US Food and Drug Administration for the use of its food-grade PCR resin for highly regulated applications with direct food contact.

The nomination recognizes Nuvida’s new proprietary technology that recycles post-consumer plastic bottle labels, a class of waste that is not recycled at most facilities due to special processing requirements to remove and separate the labels. This new technology enables Nuvida to remove contaminants from these waste streams to produce high quality, post-consumer recycled resin for adoption in the market. To date, Nuvida’s commercialized recycled label resin, Advantage 500, has successfully diverted over 600 MT of labels from landfills and forthcoming expansions will double in capacity in 2024.
The winners of the SPC Innovator Awards will be announced at the SPC Impact event in New Orleans in April 2024.
