Sabert Corporation Announces its 2023 Sustainability Report

Global Food Packaging Leader Reinforces Commitment to Sustainability and Responsible Operations

SAYREVILLE, NJ., March 28, 2023 – Today, Sabert Corporation, a global leader in innovative and sustainable food packaging solutions, released its 2023 Sustainability Report in support of the UN’s International Day of Zero Waste, an annual observance to highlight the pressing need to bolster waste management practices. The report underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility, continuous improvement, eliminating waste and ongoing efforts to develop and manufacture eco-friendly food packaging solutions.

Highlights from the 2023 report include:

  • 72% of unit sales came from sustainable products, defined as products that meet the high standard of containing at least 25% bio- or recycled content and being 100% recyclable or compostable.
  • Over 90% of Sabert’s new products were recyclable, compostable or crafted with recycled or bio-based content.
  • Global manufacturing facilities continued to build on programs to conserve energy, water, and other natural resources, resulting in an 8% reduction in energy intensity and a 10% reduction in water intensity compared to 2022.
  • In 2023, 90% of the waste generated at Sabert’s manufacturing facilities was recycled and diverted from landfills. Expanding pulp manufacturing at Sabert’s facility in Greenville, TX enables US manufacturing of new, sustainable food packaging options
  • Growing Nuvida, Sabert’s recycling facility in Monmouth Junction, NJ, which now recycles bottle caps and labels, contributes to the growth of the recycling infrastructure.

The report also highlights Sabert's commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture, employee development programs that provide growth opportunities and comprehensive worker health and safety measures. Community engagement efforts are also detailed, showcasing the company's efforts to support local communities through charitable initiatives and volunteering activities.
