Sabert Wins Two 2026 AmeriStar Awards for r-PRO™ and Pulp Ultra®
The Institute of Packaging Professionals recognizes two sustainable foodservice solutions developed by Sabert’s Centers for Innovation
SAYREVILLE, NJ., August, 13, 2026 - Sabert Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of innovative and sustainable food packaging solutions, has won two 2026 AmeriStar awards, the packaging competition run by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP). r-PRO™ bowls and containers were selected in the Sustainable Packaging category, and Pulp Ultra® was chosen for the Packaging that Saves Food category. The AmeriStar program judges entries on innovation, product protection, economics, performance, marketing, and environmental impact.
r-PRO™: Sustainable Packaging winner
r-PRO™ bowls and containers are made with Sabert’s proprietary polypropylene blend containing 25% food-grade post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. The recycled content comes from Sabert’s wholly owned recycling facility, Nuvida, which converts post-consumer waste into high-grade, food-grade PCR resin, which holds a U.S. FDA Letter of No Objection for direct food contact.
r-PRO is designed to be recycled in real recycling systems. Its stone color replaces the carbon black pigment used in conventional black foodservice containers, so the near-infrared optical sorters in most U.S. recycling facilities can detect it and route it for recovery rather than landfill. r-PRO™ carries APR Design® for Recyclability Recognition and SCS Global Certification of its recycled content. For foodservice applications, r-PRO™ containers and bowls are microwaveable and heat-lamp safe to 220°F, refrigerator-safe, and top-rack dishwasher-safe for consumer reuse.
Pulp Ultra®: Packaging that Saves Food winner
Pulp Ultra® is a molded fiber pulp proprietary formulation developed by Sabert’s Centers for Innovation. This solution offers best-in-class oil and grease resistance for food applications up to 185°F, extended refrigeration and freezing capabilities for long-term storage, microwave- and oven-safe performance, and compatibility with air fryers and rapid-cook ovens. Pulp Ultra® is BPI-certified compostable, WMU-certified recyclable, and GreenScreen™ Silver certified for chemical safety, and it previously won the 2025 U.S. Plastics Pact Sustainable Packaging Innovation Award for Compostability.
